WHAT:

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed hosts The Annual Mayor’s Cup Golf
Tournament, an event that combines friendly competition on the golf course with a fund-raiser for two special programs: The City of Atlanta Centers of Hope and the Mayor’s Youth Program.
Mayor Reed has committed to opening all 33 of the City’s recreation centers and converting them into “Centers of Hope.” These centers will be safe-havens that focus on academic enrichment, physical fitness and character development for young people in Atlanta’s neighborhoods. These revitalized centers will offer expanded after-school and summer programs in a family-friendly, structured environment.
The Mayor’s Youth Program helps high school seniors by providing resources for all students, including opportunities for workforce training, summer employment and tuition assistance, whether they choose to attend college, technical school, the military or go straight into the workforce.
Sponsors for this year’s Mayor’s Cup include The Home Depot, UPS, and American Golf.
