FIRST SOURCE PROGRAM

The First Source Jobs Program was created from an ordinance passed in 1990 by the City Council of Atlanta. The ordinance states:

"Any company that is a recipient of a City of Atlanta Contract that totals $50,000 or more and if the company employs 15 or more employees, the Contractor shall use the First Source Register to fill 50% of all entry-level positions."

The Atlanta Workforce Development Agency (AWDA) maintains a First Source Registry of City of Atlanta residents who have completed skills training funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), also those who are unemployed, laid off, veterans, persons with disabilities, older workers, and young adults.
