In 2003, new mother Karen Stiggers found herself in the midst of a divorce and unemployed. A student at Georgia State University, Karen could no longer afford to pursue her education. After hearing about the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency, Karen met with a counselor and learned about the assistance that AWDA could offer her, including training and employment services.
Karen returned to school funded by AWDA. In 2005, Karen graduated form GSU with dual bachelor degrees in Finance
and Real Estate. Today she is a Real Estate Agent and owns her own travel agency, KP’s Sunset Travel (www.kptravel.com).
Karen would like to thank Atlanta Workforce Development Agency for the opportunity given to her in her time of need. She would especially like to thank Doris Lucas who assisted her in finding employment.
For more information on training and education opportunities offer through AWDA, please attend an AWDA Orientation Session. Orientation sessions are held Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 8:30 am at the Atlanta Workforce Development
Agency.
