AWDA LAUNCHES RE-ENTRY PROGRAM FOR EX-OFFENDERS
The Atlanta Workforce Development Agency is launching a new and innovative Re-entry program for men and women who have been incarcerated and are returning to the workforce. The re-entry program will begin the second week in August.
With special classroom training, instruction and participation, ex-offenders receive assistance in acquiring the skills and resources needed to develop an Individualized Employment Marketing Plan. Ex-offenders will be coached in How to Get the Interview and training which will enable them to present themselves, their experience, their skills and finally their incarceration in a positive way during throughout that interview.
Now more than ever, employers are looking for employees who understand how to perform in the workplace with the proper attitude, workplace behavior, and the social and interactional skills to be successful. The re-entry program is designed to teach those skills, behaviors, and attitudes that contribute to an employee's success in the workplace.
Our partners, The Georgia Department of Labor, The Georgia Justice Project and the Georgia Fatherhood Program for Fulton County, will be assisting in conducting classes on specific issues that affect ex-offenders who are faced with an uncertain life after incarceration.
"Our goal is to help ex-offenders establish a solid foundation upon which to build long-term success for the rest of their lives, " said Dennis Dunn, program coordinator.
